Handcrafted by the Koripako people along the margins of the Rio Negro in the Amazon basin, this mat is an expression of ancestral reed-weaving heritage. Each piece is woven from Arumã fiber—a resilient river reed harvested by the Indigenous peoples of the Northwest Amazon—and detailed with natural plant pigments to construct traditional geometric iconography. Beyond their master craftsmanship, the Koripako are active participants in Indigenous rights movements, preserving both land and material culture across generations.
