Maco Bag by Kraho People

Handmade Buriti Fiber Maco Bag

The forest's Messenger Bag. Light and resistant. Weaved under the Krahô ancient artisan techniques.

The Krahô call themselves Mehim, they live in the northeastern part of the state of Tocantins, in the Kraolândia Indigenous Land. Krahô villages follow the timbira ideal of an arrangement of houses along a large circular path surrounding a central plaza. The Krahô have many rituals, some short, linked to individual life crises or to occasional collective initiatives. Longer ones are associated with the annual agricultural cycle, the planting and harvesting of corn and sweet potatoes.
